Station Manager

Job description

About the Business:

Our client owns and operates stations across Western NSW, focusing on goat, and Dorper sheep production, alongside cattle and cropping. Spanning 145,000 acres, the Mount Hope Station aggregation has undergone extensive upgrades in fencing, water systems, and infrastructure, making it one of the best-developed properties in the region. With modern facilities, renovated staff accommodation, and well-maintained equipment, the business is committed to sustainability and forward-thinking practices.

The Location:

Mt Hope Station is located between Cobar and Hillston in Far West NSW. Recreational activities and sports in local communities nearby include motorcross and enduro events, rugby league/union, tennis, water sports, rodeo, campdraft and gymkhana.

The Role:

As the Station Manager, you'll oversee both strategic and hands-on operational responsibilities across the Mount Hope Station aggregation. Reporting directly to the owners, you'll lead a dedicated team of permanent staff and work alongside contractors to ensure efficient livestock management and infrastructure maintenance.

You'll also be responsible for ongoing project management, grazing plans, and herd health, alongside maintaining production metrics for the Boer goat and Dorper enterprises. This is a leadership role where mentoring junior staff will be key to achieving team success.

About You:
You bring solid experience in livestock management and leadership, with mixed farming skills, including cropping. You're tech-savvy and comfortable with modern cropping machinery and software systems. Forward-thinking and hands-on, you're ready to help drive innovation while mentoring and guiding your team. Your knowledge of pasture management, animal health practices, and station operations will be key to the success of this role.

Benefits:

  • Fully maintained 4-bedroom house on the property, with internet, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and newly renovated amenities.
  • Company vehicle, phone, computer, and all station food and stores provided.
  • Be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team with a clear vision for growth.
  • Employment opportunities for a couple - we encourage applications from candidates whose partner may also seek employment on the station.
