Our Senior Geotechnical Engineer role:
This role is with the studies team within NPO's Technical Services department. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer role will undertake and co-ordinate all aspects of geotechnical engineering studies for the purpose of supporting the medium to long term Life of Mine and site projects.
This is a full-time permanent role on 5/2 or 5/2:4/3 roster (9-day fortnight).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scope, schedule, and co-ordinate geotechnical work for NPO projects and mining studies
- Ensure that Geotechnical mapping, core logging processes, QA/QC and procedures on site are completed to high standards.
- Collate and define rock mass and structural properties suitable for geotechnical domaining and modelling.
- Conduct rock mass analysis for studies as necessary.
- Draw conclusions and make recommendations, proactively recognize geotechnical risks to projects and the medium to long term schedule.
- Provide mentorship to geotechnical engineers.
About you
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline - higher degrees desirable
- Extensive experience in both operational and mine planning roles encompassing geotechnical aspects of mining and analyses of geotechnical risk.
- Both open pit and block caving experience would be advantageous
- Proven experience in leading geotechnical studies
- Established communication, leadership, project, and budget management skills.
- High degree of computer literacy including Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint
- Drivers' License (Manual preferred)
