About the Role:
Tweed Shire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Irrigation Officer to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining irrigation systems across parks, gardens, and other public areas within the council's jurisdiction. Your expertise will ensure the efficient use of water resources and contribute to the overall beauty and sustainability of our green spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, operate, and maintain irrigation systems in public parks, gardens, and council properties.
- Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules to optimize water usage based on weather conditions and seasonal needs.
- Conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs to ensure all systems operate effectively.
- Collaborate with the Parks and Recreation team to support the health and appearance of green spaces.
- Record and report water usage, system performance, and maintenance activities.
- Stay up-to-date with water conservation practices, technologies, and regulations.
- Provide input into the planning and design of new irrigation projects.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in irrigation system management, preferably in a public sector or council environment.
- Sound knowledge of irrigation technologies, including automated systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems.
- Understanding of water conservation principles and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license (essential) and white card
