The Company

Tandy Diesel Repairs is a family-owned business based in Forbes, NSW and has been operating for 15 years. Business includes:

  • sub agent for Volvo, UD & Mack offering regular maintenance and warranty repair services.
  • repairs and Maintenance of all trucks and trailers.
  • Heavy Vehicle Inspection Station - authorised inspection station for heavy vehicles, capable of repairing, inspecting, and signing off defects to help you get back on the road quickly and safely.

The Role

The employee's role at Tandy Diesel Repairs involves systematic and thorough processes to diagnose, repair, test, inspect, and document work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts a complete range of motor vehicle diagnoses and fault finding in accordance with the Australian Industry Standards and Practice.
  • Applies knowledge and skills to select the correct part to complete the repair.
  • Applies knowledge and skills to make repairs and undertake services to benchmark industry standards and to company expectations on quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Test drive vehicles to ensure the problem has been identified and/or fixed.
  • Carries out a range of detailed vehicle inspections.
  • Read and interpret fault reports, maintenance and inspection forms.
  • Maintain workshop tools and equipment and complete relevant documentation.
  • Assist as required with return of credits, warranty claims, emergency parts orders.
  • Customer service, including telephone and face to face.
  • Determine daily available capacity, using all available time of productive personnel.
  • Record on all job cards/repair orders the required starting times and time required to complete set tasks, Description of faults found, and work completed.
  • Check that work has finished on time.
  • Monitor and maintain work-flow during day. Road Test Vehicles.
  • Verify repair order on completion of work.
  • Uphold client contact with any problems.
  • Monitor parts distributed from stock on hand.
  • Assist with weekly and daily stock orders.
  • Attend Toolbox meetings and Training as required.
  • Assist new and existing apprentices. Help further their skills and knowledge, provide supervision and feedback to management.
  • Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety obligations in accordance with the laws and rules of NSW.
  • Cleaning and organisation of the workplace.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid NSW driver's license, white card, Dangerous Goods License, Forklift Licence.
  • Trade Qualified - diesel Mechanic or equivalent/similar
  • Strong preference for truck licence - minimum LR, prefer HC or HR or working towards.
  • Good standard of general literacy
  • Sound communication skills and a Customer service focus
  • Ability/desire to supervise apprentices.
