Finance Officer

About the role:
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a strong background in financial management and an exceptional grasp of Excel? Join council as an Infrastructure Recovery Finance Officer and play a key role in driving the financial success of their Infrastructure Recovery (IR) Program, dedicated to delivering essential flood disaster recovery projects.
This new role is pivotal in managing the financial operations of the program. Your key responsibilities include:
- Controlling and managing finances for the $150M IR program, ensuring accurate tracking and implementation of approved recovery works.
- Manipulating and analysing large datasets from Authority and preparing detailed financial reports.
- Ensuring all procurement purchases align with disaster recovery eligibility criteria.
- Collaborating with various teams: internal/external finance, field crews, external stakeholders (including Transport for NSW).
- Responsible for the monthly build-up and precise preparation of claims for submission to TfNSW.
- Participating in high-level meetings with TfNSW, representing the council's financial interests.
- Maintaining impeccable records, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all reporting and claims.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a finance officer position.
- Strong software skills, particularly in Excel-must be able to manipulate data and create comprehensive reports.
- Strong attention to detail is critical; accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex datasets.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working within a council environment, particularly with the Authority system, is highly desirable but not essential.
