Our Client:

This family-owned farming enterprise spans 21,000 acres (8,500 hectares) across two farms. With a primary focus on cotton production, alongside dryland cropping and cattle operations, the business is BMP-accredited and dedicated to innovation and best practices in agriculture

Located 60 km from Warren, NSW, the farm is close to a welcoming town with essential amenities, schools, health care, and recreational facilities. The property offers full mobile phone reception, convenient school bus access just 3 km away, and a modern new four-bedroom home overlooking the Macquarie River.

The Role:

This hands-on management position will see you leading the day-to-day operations of a large-scale irrigation farm, focusing on crop management, equipment maintenance, and workforce planning. Collaborating intermittently with the owner, you will play a pivotal role in operating a highly efficient irrigation system with a large portion of the farm transitioned to Bankless irrigation. You will also coordinate with contractors, consultants, and industry bodies to drive efficient and compliant operations.

As Farm Operations Manager, you will oversee irrigation schedules, crop cycles, budgets, and procedures while fostering a strong team culture and upholding high agronomic standards. Working with an existing, valued, and loyal team, your leadership and organisational skills will be key to achieving farm productivity and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing crop activities such as planting, irrigation, and harvesting
  • Managing irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use and crop health
  • Maintaining machinery and infrastructure to a high standard
  • Applying precision agriculture techniques to improve outcomes
  • Sustaining high-yielding cotton and dryland crops through effective management
  • Overseeing and executing the farm plan, supporting the team with clear communication and organisation

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a motivated individual with hands-on experience in cotton farming and irrigation, strong communication and leadership skills, and a practical mindset. Mechanical aptitude, chemical accreditation, a truck and motor vehicle licence, and proficiency in basic software are essential. Formal agricultural qualifications are valued but not required if backed by experience.
