Environmental Health Officer

About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Environmental Health Officer to join the dynamic local council team. This role will be integral in supporting the delivery of key environmental health projects and regulatory functions, with a particular focus on addressing emerging environmental health issues, such as the public health impacts of climate change. The ideal candidate will be responsive to a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, capable of managing changing priorities, and committed to collaborating across teams, including Planning, Compliance, Building Certification, and Environmental Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program Leader (EH Projects) and Environmental Health team in executing critical projects and programs to address public health and environmental concerns.
- Provide expert advice on environmental health issues to the community, developers, government agencies, and council staff.
- Investigate customer service requests related to environmental compliance issues, including nuisance, pollution, and noise complaints.
- Support the core regulatory functions of Council's Environmental Health section, ensuring alignment with local regulations and best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
To excel in this role, you should bring a broad range of environmental health experience, particularly within compliance and inspections. You should also demonstrate a positive, team-oriented approach to your duties and a commitment to providing high-quality service to our community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Environmental Health or a related field with a focus on environmental health.
- Relevant qualifications that meet accreditation standards in Environmental Health.

- Experience in a compliance background within the environmental sector or a degree in Ecology.
